Jane Bond Music
Although she hails from Lexington, MA, Jane Bond has become one of the premier artists in Austin, TX. While Jane is rooted in Country-Blues, she is by no means old fashioned. Her music is seasoned with Jazz and Rock & Roll, complimented by her flirtatious but authentic stage presence. Jane brings this package together to create an original and captivating performance.
After moving from Boston to Austin, Jane recorded her first album, Jane Bond Volume I in 2001. In August 2002, Jane was on the cover of the Austin Chronicle representing one of Austin's hot new acts. Jane has worked with Wayne Nagel and Cory L. Moore, at the Luther Wolf Agency. Together, they released her second album, Jane Bond Volume II: Live from the Continental Club, under Luther Records in March 2004. Since then, Jane has been touring Texas performing with bands such as Reckless Kelly, Ray Benson, the Gourds, and Radney Foster.
Jane Bond is the quintessential representation of the music scene in Austin. She has played in many of Austin's prestigious nightclubs, including Antone's, Hole in the Wall, and a twenty-month residency at the Continental Club. Jane has performed at the South by Southwest Music Festival and at the Austin City Limits festival in 2002 and 2003 with artists such as R.E.M., Dwight Yoakam, Shawn Colvin, and Liz Phair. Jane Bond has made her mark in Austin, and she is ready for more.
Jane's music career is caked full of experience and progress. In preparation for her third album, Jane took a trip to Los Angeles, CA, where she recorded five songs with producer/ drummer, Tony Braunagel (late of Bonnie Raitt/Taj Mahal), bassist Hutch Hutchinson, keyboardist Benmont Tench, and guitarist Johnny Lee Shell.
After a couple of years in a duo, Jane has a new lease on life and is more excited than ever to record new songs and to play live. She has a new band including, but not limited to, Matt Giles (Toni Price), Cornbread Rob (Billy Jo Shaver, Chuck Prophet) and Vicente Rodriguez (Sister Morales).
With Influences including Rolling Stones, Bessie Smith, Bonnie Raitt, Ella Fitzgerald, Pee Wee Hunt, Janis Joplin, Mance Lipscomb, Neil Young, Billy Preston, Aretha Franklin, Carla Thomas, Jane is one eclectic talent.
Several gigs at SXSW 2009, played to enthusiastic audiences, validated Jane’s return to form. Jane plans to release a new album later this year. Stay tuned!!
